Gardening Scheme Details
Contract Gardening
– Extra help for less able people.
We subsidise self employed local gardeners to provide clients with up to 12 hours
of gardening. This year, each client will only have to pay their garden
contractor £5 for an hours work. We are very grateful to Stroud
District Council for continuing to fund this helpful service under the
present economic circumstances.
Security
– All clients using Contract Gardening are sent a photograph of
their nominated contract gardener for identification purposes.
To help visually impaired clients each gardener also has a unique
password.
Funding – In 2010 we have funding from Stroud District Council and
their Community Safety Department. This has
enabled us to help just over 300 people this year. We have
received almost 700 applications, so you can see that unfortunately,
many people will be disappointed.
RBL – For the last 3 years we have
had the benefit of RBL funding. Sadly this has now ended. The RBL
had hoped to extend the scheme to the whole country and our district was
the trial area. Although were very pleased with the results of this
trial, they cannot now afford to apply the
scheme nationally, so it has been withdrawn. The
RBL Letter sent to us explaining the
reasons can be viewed here. It is in PDF format. To open PDF
documents, Adobe
Reader can be downloaded if you do not already have it.
Who Can We Help? – For all applications received before the
closing date of 12th Feb 2010, the following criteria have been used to
determine those who we can help.
1. Those who are 80 years of age or older and
in receipt of a means tested benefit.
We define means tested benefit as:-
- Income Support
- Council Tax Benefit (not single occupier reduction)
- Housing Benefit
- Pension Guarantee Credit
2. Those who are 79 years of age or younger in receipt of a means tested benefit (as above) and
a disability benefit. These people will be taken in age order with oldest first as far as funding will allow.
We define Disability benefit as:-
- Attendance Allowance
- Disability Living Care Allowance
- Disability Living Mobility Allowance
- Disability Working Mobility Allowance
- Severe Disability Premium
Although we have allocated all the funding we have received for
2010, you may still wish to register for the scheme in case
additional funding becomes available. Click here for a
Registration Form in
Microsoft Word format. Registering for the scheme means that
you will continue to receive information and registration forms for
any future Gardening Assistance schemes.
