Care & Repair (Stroud) Ltd was founded in 1988 as a 'Home Improvement Agency'.

Our aim is to help older and disabled people to stay independent as long as possible.  We are here to help people avoid situations such as being shipped off to a care home just because they can't climb the stairs any more.

We are a 'not for profit' Home Improvement Agency whose main purpose is provide adaptations and other work for people who are elderly or disabled to enable them to remain living safely in their own homes.

Many clients are referred to us by public agencies, who also provide the funding for any work needed, although our services are also available for those who do not receive public funding.

Since 2001 we have completed around 20,000 jobs for local people, most of them elderly or disabled.  Those are only the details stored on our computers.  Prior to then, from less electronic days, we have filing cabinets stacked with details of work done for many more people.

We have undertaken or managed work ranging from small tasks like changing tap washers up to renovations of entire properties.

Although we are incorporated as a limited company, we are not in business to make a profit.  We are an Industrial and Provident Society with Charitable Status, registered by the National Federation of Housing Associations under the Industrial And Provident Societies Act (1965), register number 26017R.
